Dear Jacinda Ardern, Did you know the earth is full of plastic and it is harming our precious animals? When people litter they throw their rubbish into the sewers, this rubbish goes through the sea.   This rubbish includes plastic bags, bottles, glass and food packaging. We should ban plastic now! Because it is harming our animals and the seas are becoming full of rubbish, mostly plastic. There are over 60 million pieces of rubbish in the sea. How terrible is that? Because there is so much rubbish and people are not recycling people have had to make landfills so that people can throw their rubbish in it and these plastic rubbish have stayed there for years and years. Pollution Dear Jacinda Ardern, Today, Finlayson Park School has been learning about how we can help the environment, because animals have been dying from plastic and rubbish. An interesting fact about animals are w ildlife have been dying because of balloons. Our animals consume these balloons causing them to become ill. Also according to scientists two million tons of sewage and industrial waste is dumped into the ocean each day. We obviously don't appreciate our oceans.  When birds and animals eat plastic it takes about 450 years to decompose so it gets stuck in animals throats when they swallow plastic. Don't you want to help save our precious animals? Please help our animals, because I believe people can make a difference by swapping our plastic bags, bottles, straws and toothbrushes for reusable or biodegradable items. Why is Recycling Important? Recycling is important to us because if we don't put the right thing in the recycling bin the rubbish will get sent to the wrong facility and the workers at Visy will have to pick out the rubbish once it is dropped off. But if you put the right things in the recycling bin it will make life a whole lot easier as this means less stress on workers also our animals will be safe from plastic. So make sure you don't put the wrong things in the wrong bin. Recycling Process 1.First the collection truck grabs the bin an tips it into the collection truck then they drive away to Visy recycling. 2.Then when they get to Visy recycling the collection truck open's the back of the truck and the rubbish is poured onto the MRF ramp, ready to be sorted. Also only a tiny 9% of all plastics in the world are recycled, the remaining 91% are not correctly disposed of. Our marine life are affected by plastic because sea turtles are caught up in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, they end up with 74% of their diets made up of ocean plastic. Hi my name is Eleanor and I think plastic should be banned because our animals and sea creatures are getting hurt and sick because there is too much plastic in the sea.   Li me-Scooter I think that lime-scooters should be banned because they are causing people to steal, commit crimes such as burning them and throw then into unnecessary places like river beds, garbage cans, through car windows and even people's window sills. Another reason why I want them to be banned is people are struggling to follow the rules of lime-scooters.Some rules include, wearing a helmet, riding on the road and you must be 18 years old or over to ride one. I have seen multiple people break these rules and they have been put in place for a reason. If you use a lime-scooter and don't look after it and don't follow the regulations on the app then don't use it.  It's a privilege for us a part of the human race we need to respect the rules of renting a lime-scooter. Ko Wai Au Hi my name is Phoenix. I am in  B9,  I like to go to school because I enjoy learning new things. My dogs are so important to me, their names are Kaya and Kora. I love my family and my two dogs because they are always kind to me .  Every year, my family and I go up north for Christmas. We all went to the Hokianga. We go to see my aunty, cousins and my aunties dog Mimi. The Hokianga is so important to me because my uncle was buried there. My uncle was the best uncle in the world because he use to take care of me when I was little by taking walks on the beach and cooking together.  My cousin is in a wheelchair because she had a big accident that is why I like to spend time with my family.  We stayed up north for five days. MY DAY OUT In the weekend, it was my 9th birthday. We had it at lazer tag because I chose to have my birthday there. We had to shoot people with a lazer gun, when they got shot their light turns grey. My favourite part was when my friends Isaiah and Kingston were playing and Isaiah tripped. We laughed.  After lazer tag we had Burger King. Isaiah had a double cheese burger and chips. I had a double cheese burger and Kingston had a double cheese burger and chicken nuggets. My Weekend In the weekend, I spent time with my brothers, my sisters, my uncle and my aunty. I enjoyed spending time with my family. We went to my aunty's netball game to watch her play. She won her netball game. My aunty is really good at sports because she is also a boxer. My aunty got my brother and I a new bike. It looks like a BMX bike because its not that big. I love it because its orange and black.  Once we got it we went to pump my tires up and my brothers.
