Dear Jacinda Ardern - Violet
Dear
Jacinda Ardern,
My name is Violet and I attend Finlayson Park School. I am writing to you regarding that terrible plastic pollution problem here in New Zealand. I feel you are failing our country and animals. Did you know that plastic is harming our precious animals and our environment? Also did you know the earth is full of thousands of plastic items? I know right lots of it! When people litter they throw their rubbish into the sewers and it ends up going into the ocean. The rubbish that flows into the ocean are mostly bottles, cans, paper, and plastic bags.

Here’s an
interesting fact. Sea turtles caught in the great pacific garbage patch can end
up with 74% of their diet made up of ocean plastic this means the remaining 26%
of the diet is actual food. Each year 16 million pieces of rubbish are thrown
into the ocean and that is really dangerous for our sea animals.
As you
know now we need to save our planet and stop all the pollution from happening.
Why do I want it to stop? I have three reasons why. One, plastic
should be banned because it is harming our animals, secondly people don't need to use all the plastic. We should encourage people to use reusable items. Finally, the pollution is damaging our clean kiwi green image! So please Jacinda do something about plastic pollution. Ban plastic bags, bottles and straws.
Regards:Violet.
