What is Pollution?

Pollution is something harmful to the environment animals, plants and humans. There are 5 types of pollution, land, air, sound light and water. There are many people around the world who are trying to make a change in the law, by creating inventions and groups of people are going out into the community to clean up our oceans.

Land Pollution

Land pollution comes in many forms. One form is chemicals like pesticide sprays. If chemicals get into our plants it can kill the plants and make your fruits/veggies toxic. There is also littering. This is when litter is thrown onto the ground in different areas by humans, it is extremely harmful to the environment, people and animals. If plastic rubbish was to be thrown on the ground it would be no good for humans and animals because there are toxic chemicals in some plastics. If plastic washes up on the sea shore, sea creatures and wildlife could take it home and eat it or feed it to there little ones. If sea animals eat the rubbish it will block there organs and kill them. People have created landfills so there is no rubbish laying on the ground. If we pick up rubbish it can help the environment. LAND POLLUTION IS EXTREMELY SAD!

AIR POLLUTION

Air pollution, comes from cars, trucks, rubbish, factories and landfills. If the air is filthy it can cause humans and animals to get extremely sick. Greenhouses gases are extremely bad for the earths atmosphere and the ozone layer because it can cause holes in the ozone. This is very dangerous for humans because it lets the sun come through which is harmful for our bodies because you could get skin cancer. Smog is a thick fog of toxic gases and particles usually found over cities. It is worst on hot days when there is know wind to carry it away.

Water Pollution!

Planet earth is full of useful materials, from fresh water to glittering gold. These are called natural resources. We use them for so many things that its so hard to imagine a world without them. How ever we need to be careful not to use them all up and take care of them. Imagine if we ran out of clean water to use. We need to drink it to survive. Water isn't just for drinking , though. It is used to make products and for lots of other things. Water is cleaned and reused, but this process needs electricity. Saving water helps to make sure we all have enough. Some people don't care though because they are pouring oil into the sea and it is harming our sea creatures which is not good :( .Oil destroys the insulating ability of fur-bearing mammals, such as sea otters, and the water repellent of a birds feathers, thus exposing these creature to the harsh elements. Without the ability to repel water and insulate from the cold water, birds and mammals will die from hypothermia.

It is important to look after the environment cause if we don't it is extremely harmful to animals, humans and plants.
