Why is Recycling Important?
Recycling is important to us because if we don't put the right thing in the recycling bin the rubbish will get sent to the wrong facility and the workers at Visy will have to pick out the rubbish once it is dropped off. But if you put the right things in the recycling bin it will make life a whole lot easier as this means less stress on workers also our animals will be safe from plastic. So make sure you don't put the wrong things in the wrong bin.
Recycling Process
1.First the collection truck grabs the bin an tips it into the collection truck then they drive away to Visy recycling.
2.Then when they get to Visy recycling the collection truck open's the back of the truck and the rubbish is poured onto the MRF ramp, ready to be sorted. Visy receives more then 200 delivers each day.
3.Next the loader driver grabs a pile of rubbish and tips it on to the conveyor belt so the recycling rubbish gets transported to the workers who then sort out the rubbish. The workers who sort out the rubbish remove any rubbish that is non recyclable.
4.After that, all the materials the get sorted into five groups such as cardboard, paper, glass, plastic and aluminium.
6. All the rubbish goes into the trummel, this looks like a large cylinder with big holes. The trummel spins around and around so the small items such as paper and cardboard fall into the big holes and are separated from the group.
7.Then when the rubbish is done in the trummel the steel items are separated from the group using large magnets.
8. Next the workers break the glass into tiny pieces.When they finish breaking the glass the conveyor runs the glass through a machine and breaks the glass into smaller sand like pieces.Then when the glass is finished getting broken into piece's it comes out of the machine and it is put onto a truck to be taken away.
9. All aluminum cans are squashed down and put together into square bales and then the truck takes it to a different company to get remade into new items.
This how we recycle in New Zealand. So please make sure that when you are throwing rubbish away you put only recyclable items into the recycling bin.
